Hazards QLD is operated by Digitalis Health Pty Ltd (ABN 84 689 650 888).
What the app stores
Each installation receives a random device identifier and authentication token. If you save a place, the server stores the zone you deliberately create and its alert preferences. The app does not retain continuous movement history or background-location history.
Location and address search
Location permission is while you are using the app. The map asks for it when the map first opens, so it can centre on your position, and again when you use Locate Me or save your current location as a place. Hazards QLD does not ask for background location and does not keep a trail of where you have been. If you decline, you can still browse the map and the hazard list.
A position used only to centre the map stays on your device. If you save a place, the zone you create is stored on the Hazards Platform with this installation. If you search for a suburb, postcode or street address, the search text is sent to the Queensland Government QldLocator service so candidate locations can be returned. Hazards QLD requires you to select a validated Queensland result before it can become a saved place. The search text is not stored as your account history, because the app has no account.
The Hazards Platform stores the saved zone geometry and the label you choose. It does not need to retain the free-text search query, a location trail or background movement history.
Emergency plan
If you choose to create an emergency plan, the household, contact, health, assistance, pet, evacuation and preparedness details you enter are stored only in secure storage on your device. They are not uploaded to Hazards QLD servers. The plan is included only when you explicitly use the app's export or sharing controls.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, Hazards QLD stores an encrypted push-delivery token linked to this installation. The token is used only to deliver hazard notifications. Invalid or revoked tokens are deactivated.
Hazard and source data
Hazard information is obtained from public or authorised source systems. Source provenance, timestamps and revision history are retained to support freshness, traceability and correction.
App error reports
If the app hits an error, it sends Hazards QLD a short report: the error message, where in the app's code it happened, whether the app closed, the platform (iOS or Android) and the app version. Reports do not include your location, saved places, searches, device identifiers or anything you have typed. They are used only to find and fix faults, and are kept with the service logs. Apple and Google may also share crash reports with us under your device's own analytics settings.
Third-party services
ArcGIS supplies the mapping presentation layer. Showing the map sends Esri the requests needed to draw the basemap for the area on screen. Queensland Government QldLocator is used for Queensland address and locality search. Native notifications may be delivered through the Expo Push Service and, depending on your device, Apple Push Notification service (iPhone and iPad) or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android). Those providers process the technical information required to provide those services under their own terms and privacy arrangements. Hazards QLD does not use those services for advertising or tracking.
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not identify or follow individual visitors. The mobile app does not use it.
Your controls
The app allows you to export the data associated with your installation and the emergency plan stored on your device. Deleting your data removes the installation, saved places, preferences, push registrations and the locally stored emergency plan.
